- TEXTILE ARTIST, AUTHOR & TEACHER -
After gaining City and Guilds qualifications in Patchwork & Quilting, Embroidery, and Teaching, and the Diploma of Stitched Textiles, I started teaching both in the UK and Europe.
For the past ten years I have been developing a new simple technique for invisible needle turn appliqué, perfect points, inward Vs and perfectly rounded curves. The new style takes the pain out of appliqué and produces really outstanding results. Although I am a traditionalist at heart I've been designing contemporary Hawaiian appliqué patterns for the last ten years and have written a new book on the subject which incorporates all my new appliqué techniques.
Since 2000 I have been attending Grosvenor Exhibitions Ltd. Quilt Shows throughout the UK demonstrating my new techniques and teaching classes. For the past three years I have been one of the Judge Co-ordinators for their quilt shows. I also demonstrated my innovative appliqué techniques at the IQA shows in the United States and Europe.
Here are just some comments on my methods from fellow quilters and students:
" I thought I could do appliqué until I took Maggie's class. She teaches invisible (and I really do mean invisible) stitching and perfect points (they really are perfect). Her methods are very, very good. I don't think you could have a better teacher in handwork."
"Your method for making sharp, crisp points is absolutely the best appliqué tip I have ever received. It's great, and my points are perfect now. Thank you."
"My next project will have lots of points because I enjoy them so much now."
